NEW INITIATIVE TO RAISE DONATIONS AND AWARENESS FOR THE WALSH KENNEDY MEMORIAL FUND IN COOPERATION WITH BOSTON FIREFIGHTERS UNION

33 to 33: A new call to action to honor the memory of Boston’s Lieutenant Edward J. Walsh of Engine 33 and Firefighter Michael R. Kennedy of Ladder 15

Boston, Mass. (March 30, 2014) – In remembrance of Lieutenant Edward J. Walsh and Firefighter Michael R. Kennedy , the 33 to 33 campaign is encouraging all Bostonians to donate $33 to honor and benefit the families of our fallen heroes of Boston’s Ladder 15 and Engine 33. Those who wish to donate to the Walsh Kennedy Memorial Fund, established by the Boston Firefighter’s Union, may do so at 33to33.com.

On March 26, 2014, Lieutenant Edward J. Walsh of Engine 33 and Firefighter Michael R. Kennedy of Ladder 15 lost their lives battling a nine-alarm fire in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. They made the ultimate sacrifice when they answered the call – now it’s time for the city to respond.

“The outpouring of support we’ve seen from Boston in the wake of the loss of Lieutenant Walsh and Firefighter Kennedy is overwhelming,” said Rich Paris of the Boston Firefighter’s Union. “33 to 33 reminds us once again why we are honored to serve this city and its great people. This generosity will help these families focus on what is most important for them right now: each other.”

The 33 to 33 campaign suggests a donation amount of $33 to honor the men and women of Ladder 15 and Engine 33, but donations of any amount will be accepted. If just five percent of Bostonians each contribute $33, it could raise more than $1 million for the Walsh Kennedy Memorial Fund.

The Walsh Kennedy Memorial Fund benefits the families of both fallen firefighters. Funds raised through the Walsh Kennedy Memorial Fund are managed by the Boston Firefighter’s Credit Union. The Boston Firefighter’s Credit Union is also accepting checks by mail. In addition to making donations through 33to33.com, checks in any amount can be mailed to: Lieutenant Walsh-Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund, Boston Firefighters Credit Union, 60 Hallet Street Dorchester, MA 02124.
