Cone Adds Nike Veteran and USA Today New Media Expert to Staff

Cranmer and Nicholson come with a wealth of experience

BOSTON (January 20, 2011) – Cone today announces the hire of Vice President Ziba Cranmer, who will join the agency’s Cause Branding discipline. Director of New Media Alexandra Nicholson has also been hired to further expand Cone’s digital expertise.

“Cause Branding and new media represent two areas of tremendous strength for us,” says President Bill Fleishman. “Ziba and Alex will help keep us ahead of the curve and bring some valuable perspectives from beyond the agency world.”

Prior to joining Cone, Ziba most recently served as Nike’s Director of Social Innovation, based in Oregon, the U.K. and the Netherlands. She brings to Cone more than 10 years of experience with Nike and the World Bank, taking on issues as diverse as cause marketing, community investment, public-private partnerships, social entrepreneurship and finance, diversity and inclusion, ethical business and supply chains, transparency, youth development and sport, fitness and health. Ziba will initially work on Cone's Hilton and Purina accounts, while providing thought leadership to all agency clients.

Alex most recently held the role of social media strategist for USA Today. Her charge was to increase brand awareness, audience and revenue through digital communications efforts and social media strategy. She aided in the development of corporate social media policy and training, supported USA Today’s extensive Facebook and Twitter efforts and helped build brand presences on location-based platforms. Alex was previously USA Today’s communications manager, focusing on media relations, corporate spokesperson duties and cross-platform marketing initiatives. Prior, Alex served as a publicist with several divisions at National Geographic and held a role with Allison & Partners in Washington, DC.
