Cone Communications to Partner with Alcoa Foundation to Support STEM and Manufacturing Initiative

CONE COMMUNICATIONS TO PARTNER WITH ALCOA FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT STEM AND MANUFACTURING INITIATIVE

 

BOSTON (May 18, 2015) – Cone Communications (Cone) announced today that it will partner with Alcoa Foundation, one of the largest corporate foundations in the United States, to support Alcoa Foundation’s sponsorship of the first SkillsUSA manufacturing team competing at this summer’s 43rd WorldSkills Competition. The WorldSkills Competition is the biggest vocational education and skills event in the world and will take place in São Paulo, Brazil in August.

Alcoa Foundation invests in multiple STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education and workforce training initiatives to help build an advanced technology workforce. The foundation selected Cone following a competitive pitch process and based on the agency’s strong experience supporting STEM work and organizations, including FIRST Robotics and Time Warner Cable’s “Connect a Million Minds.”  Cone’s work on behalf of Alcoa Foundation and SkillsUSA will help debunk the misperceptions people, particularly parents, have of careers in manufacturing, and showcase the fun and success youth can find in pursuing STEM education and associated careers.
