BOSTON (March 16, 2006) – Julia Hobbs Kivistik brings 22 years of global marketing expertise as well as both nonprofit and for profit experience to her newly announced position as Executive Vice President of Cone’s Cause Branding discipline. Kivistik will oversee the agency’s practice area and focus her attention on client service, cause capabilities expansion, leadership and team development and new business.
As the pioneer in the field of Cause Branding, Cone has created and implemented some of the nation’s most memorable cause initiatives including: American Heart Association's Go Red For Women, Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, Reebok Human Rights Awards, PNC Grow Up Great, and ConAgra Foods' Feeding Children Better.
“Julia is a veteran of cause and consumer marketing, branding, as well as human resource development,” says Cone Chairman Carol Cone. “She has a most unusual blend of capabilities, with a deep passion for client service and personnel development. She brings to Cone a commitment to delivering results beyond expectations and to constant innovation.”
Prior to joining Cone, Kivistik worked at Saatchi & Saatchi X where she held various executive positions working with brands such as Coca-Cola, Gerber, Leap Frog, Energizer, Smucker’s, Wal-Mart, General Mills, Procter & Gamble and Disney. There she led the development of national marketing plans, cause-related marketing initiatives, corporate communications programs, national promotional campaigns and shopper research. As Vice President of Strategic Marketing, Account Planning and Shopper Insights, Kivistik led companies through a strategic approach known as Shopper Marketing that helped them understand and impact consumer behavior throughout the entire shopping process.
“Julia’s knowledge of today’s diverse consumer and their complex purchasing habits will further strengthen Cone’s ability to help organizations build enduring and trusted relationships with stakeholders,” notes Jens Bang, President and CEO, Cone Inc.
As Senior Vice President of Human Interest at Saatchi & Saatchi X, which included human resources, corporate communications and recruitment, Kivistik supported the agency’s growth from 35 to hundreds of employees in multiple offices in the U.S. and abroad. “As the groundbreaking work we do requires an extraordinary range of talents, Julia’s experience in building and leading exemplary teams will be critical to enhancing our reputation as the preeminent resource for companies and nonprofits in Cause Branding,” said Chairman Cone.
“I am thrilled to join Cone,” says Julia Kivistik. “My passion for building and growing companies, nonprofits and people, complements Cone’s leadership and expertise in bringing about positive change to organizations through distinct and effective cause programs.”
Kivistik also has significant experience with a variety of non-profit organizations, both in developing communications strategy and in partnering with corporations. A pioneer in cause marketing, she formed a company called Jules, Inc. in 1995, working with corporations and non-profits to develop programs for clients including Special Olympics, Safe Drinking Water Trust, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America/Kmart Kids Race Against Drugs, and the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Women.
Before starting her own company, Kivistik was Executive Vice President of Give Kids the World, a 501(c)(3) organization in Orlando, Florida, that provides vacations to terminally ill children and their families. There she built a staff of 50 employees and over 3,000 volunteers and was responsible for fundraising and in-kind donations of over $40 million. Working with organizations such as Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, Planet Hollywood, Coca-Cola, Holiday Inn Worldwide and Procter & Gamble, Kivistik developed long-term partnerships focusing on cause marketing, promotions and public relations.
“During her six years at Give Kids the World, Julia helped build our brand,” notes Henri Landwirth, chairman and founder of Give Kids the World. “Julia’s ability to cultivate strong corporate partnerships with world-class companies, coupled with her passion and commitment, greatly contributed to the success and growth of our organization,” adds Landwirth.
Kivistik earned her Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from the University of Florida. Active on many boards of directors throughout her career, she currently serves on the board of several nonprofits, including Give Kids the World and America’s Charities.
