Account Manager, Social Media

The Role:

Cone is seeking an experienced Social Media Account Manager to join its team in its waterfront Boston office. The successful candidate will develop and implement forward-thinking social communications and digital marketing strategies and executions across a range of clients in the CSR, Consumer and Technology spaces. The role requires a solutions-focused individual who has a full grasp of social media channels, audiences, influencers and analytics. The ideal candidate will be able to make client recommendations and educate teams on best practices and a track record of developing social marketing programs and campaigns that align against business and communications goals. 

Cone is a Porter Novelli company and part of the Omnicom Public Relations Group, which means this individual will have the opportunity to collaborate with Porter Novelli’s global network of colleagues. The Social Media Account Manager will work alongside experts in the areas of paid media, social media, analytics, creative services and web development to provide clients with fully integrated communication solutions. 

  

Responsibilities: 

  • Effective in developing and implementing integrated communications programs that span both traditional and digital/social channels 

  • Establish social media objectives and measurements of success for each program and tactically execute upon those strategies to meet and exceed benchmarks 

  • Take a leading role in client management as the subject matter expert in social and digital communications, providing clients with ongoing strategic digital counsel  

  • Proactively cross-sell social and digital services to organically grow scope of work (e.g., analytics, community management, digital production, creative, etc.) 

  • Stay abreast of digital and social media innovations, and look for ways to integrate these to client campaigns 

  • Regularly contribute to creative brainstorm sessions, able to reference digital brand examples as ideas for brainstorming 

  • Help pitch and win new business, including contributing ideas to RFIs/RFPs and participating in new business pitches 

  • Work collaboratively with other team members, agency partners, and outside vendors 

  • Successfully lead, mentor and motivate teams, playing an active role in developing junior team members in applying communications best practices to client programs 

  • Write articles and contribute to company blogs, social feeds and publications to support wider agency marketing efforts 

  • Collaborate with a global network of colleagues through our digital marketing team; participate in the growth of the digital practice within Porter Novelli 

  • Write client-facing materials clearly, succinctly and persuasively in a variety of communication settings and styles with no supervision 

  • Set and manage account and program budgets 

  

Qualifications: 

  • 6 to 8 years of experience working in PR and/or marketing, most recently specializing in social media. Agency experience preferred 

  • Deep understanding of the principles of social media platforms and digital communications, while still being willing and able to be hands on 

  • A track record of managing and delivering complex online marketing and social media programs 

  • Evidence of establishing strong client relationships as the day-to-day client contact 

  • Complete understanding of digital / social specific key performance indicators to strategically measure and track the success of client programs  

  • Strong writing, presentation and interpersonal skills 

  • Knowledge of other aspects of digital marketing including site design, SEO and paid social 

  • A detailed understanding of the earned media landscape and how it intersects with social and digital platforms and tools
