Time Warner Cable invests to inspire the problem solvers of tomorrow

what we did

Cone worked with Time Warner Cable to identify a strategic philanthropic focus that aligned with their brand, resonated with customers and addressed a legitimate/current social need. Through internal and external research, we identified an opportunity for TWC to support STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education among youth. Specifically, TWC would use its unique assets as a cable company to change perceptions among youth of STEM to increase interest and then connect them to inspiring, hands-on STEM opportunities in their local communities. This focus came to life through Connect a Million Minds, a five-year, $100M commitment launched in 2009.

  • 1,000,000 minds connected goal achieved in May 2014

  • $161M donated via cash and in-kind contributions

  • 1,239 non-profit organizations supported

  • 5,805 employee volunteers

  • Executed numerous innovative campaigns and partnerships
