The Role: 

Porter Novelli’s Cone is seeking to hire a Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to play a leadership role in counseling corporate clients in the areas of CSR Strategy, Reporting, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategic Philanthropy, Employee Engagement and Communications. Cone became a part of Porter Novelli in 2017, forming the world’s largest agency dedicated to purpose communications. 

The Vice President will be a leader among a group of sophisticated and passionate professionals who are dedicated to our CSR practice. The VP must have a track record of insight-driven and forward-looking client strategy and programs. As a senior member of the account team, the Vice President is responsible for delivering the highest quality work product for clients, while focusing on cultivating client relationships, growing accounts organically, encouraging staff development and advancing thought leadership. S/he should be a seasoned CSR subject matter expert across sustainable business practices and social impact, with experience creating CSR strategies and programs developing CSR communications platforms, leading CSR reports that are aligned with GRI standards, facilitating stakeholder engagement and public-private partnerships, and creating campaigns that inspire action. The VP should be well-versed on the CSR space, the trends and the influencers to be a trusted advisory to senior-level client contacts. 


•Being a trusted advisor and partner for clients, constantly looking for new and creative ways for clients to meet and exceed their goals through innovative solutions 

•Understanding of the CSR space from a Thought Leadership, Influencer and Stakeholder Engagement perspective 

•Participating in marketing Cone’s CSR research and capabilities through new business outreach and industry events. 

•Proficient in in reporting such as materiality assessments 

•Having an entrepreneurial spirit, always seeking opportunities to grow the account organically by identifying incremental projects and cross-selling the agency’s full range of capabilities 

•Managing multiple accounts and demonstrate a mastery of account management including staffing, budgeting, billing and resource allocation ensuring effective financial management and profitability of the account 

•Creating a work environment that is motivating and empowering, fostering effective communication among the team and consistently offering positive and constructive feedback to team members in a manner that helps them learn and grow 

•Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of CSR trends, corporate CSR initiatives, and how social and digital tools are used to communicate CSR programs 


•Minimum of 10+ years of CSR, PR, nonprofit experience 

•Highly strategic, creative, and innovative mindset 

•Advanced listening, verbal and written communications skills 

•Presentation style that is persuasive and commanding 

•Display analytical thinking and strategic planning and direction 

•Exhibit strong client management and client relations 

•Mastery of account management and financial management 

•Effective staff management, people development and coaching skills 

•Effective business development skills 

•Strong organizational and time management skills 

•Ability to travel 

•Media relations experience, including pitching and relationships with business and sustainability reporters, is a bonus
